Monaco Energy Boat Challenge 2026 — What to Expect

Now in its 13th edition, the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge brings together over 45 competing teams, more than 1,000 students, and industry figures from 25 nationalities. The conference running alongside it has become a working forum for naval architects, propulsion engineers, and technical directors who want to understand where the industry is heading. That is precisely where we have something to contribute.

Our keynote: where routing intelligence meets clean propulsion

The title of this session speaks directly to one of the central challenges facing the next generation of yachts and vessels: how do you make clean propulsion practical?

Hydrogen, electric, and hybrid systems are changing what is possible on the water. But range anxiety, energy budgeting, and efficiency trade-offs remain real barriers to adoption. AI weather routing is one of the most powerful tools available to address them.

By precisely anticipating sea state, wind, and current conditions, our platform helps captains and routing teams make smarter decisions — reducing energy consumption without adding time to the passage or compromising crew and guest comfort.

This is the core promise of MWI Yachting: meteorological intelligence that works in service of both performance and sustainability.

AI Weather Routing and Clean Propulsion: Why It Matters Now

The transition to cleaner propulsion is accelerating. Yards are launching hybrid and zero-emission yachts, charter fleets are being electrified, and regulatory pressure on emissions is tightening across European and international waters. Yet the software layer — the intelligence layer — has not always kept pace with the hardware.

At Marine Weather Intelligence, we believe that the future of sustainable yachting is not just about what powers a vessel. It is about how intelligently that vessel navigates. A well-routed passage on a hybrid yacht can dramatically outperform a poorly routed one on a conventional platform — in fuel consumption, range, and passenger experience alike.

The yachting industry: looking ahead

We look forward to contributing to what promises to be an exceptionally forward-thinking programme in Monaco. The conversations happening at events like the Energy Boat Challenge are shaping the roadmap for the entire yachting industry, and we are thrilled to have a seat at the table.

More details on our speaker session and how to connect with our team in Monaco will follow in the coming weeks. Feel free to connect with us on LinkedIn.
