What was your path before getting into marine weather forecasting?

I pursued marine weather forecasting because I wanted to combine my scientific background in oceanography with my passion for sailing. Ever since I was in middle school, I have aspired to work as a weather forecaster for sailing races, so this internship is a perfect opportunity for me to realize this goal.

How did you get into sailing?

I first tried sailing on an Optimist at a small lake near my hometown when I was seven. I quickly fell in love with it, started competing, and eventually became a member of the Polish National Sailing Team, first in Optimist, then in 29er, and finally in 49er FX.

What do you love in life?

Besides sailing, I love scuba diving and just being close to the ocean. I’m also involved in youth initiatives that focus on advocating for healthy oceans.

Where is your favorite place on Earth?

I don’t have a single favorite place on Earth; I find them all unique and amazing. However, if I were to choose one place I always think warmly of, it would be the Hel Peninsula in Poland. It is a perfect spot for windsurfing, scuba diving, and sailing, with beautiful landscapes and the most amazing sunsets, which I often visit when I am back in Poland.
