Marine Weather Intelligence (MWI) is pleased to announce its appointment as routing and weather forecast provider for the Vendée Globe 2024. Through this service, MWI will leverage its expertise in marine meteorology and artificial intelligence to offer real-time weather forecasts to support the race management.

Cutting-edge expertise for the world's toughest race

We are thrilled to bring our analytical finesse in marine weather to the Vendée Globe 2024,” says Christian Dumard, CEO and co-founder of Marine Weather Intelligence. ‘This reflects the confidence placed in our expertise and our ability to provide informed analysis and monitoring to the race management.

Basile Rochut, CTO and co-founder, added: “Artificial intelligence is at the heart of our approach. It enables us to refine the accuracy of our forecasts and routing. We combine the best available weather models and analyse them to provide a reliable and detailed understanding of race conditions.”

Supporting safe & efficient race management.

It is worth remembering that this routing will only be accessible to members of the Race Direction, as the skippers carry out these route simulations aboard their boats, without the help of anyone else. They are forbidden to receive routings from land or from other boats. More information in this article published in June 2024 on the official Vendée Globe website.

Innovative solutions for secure routing

Thanks to the development of sophisticated algorithms, Marine Weather Intelligence offers optimised routing solutions, guaranteeing safety and efficiency for all maritime players. This innovative service will enable ships at sea to benefit from safer, more responsible and more reliable routing.

A first version of the application is already being tested by professionals in the nautical sector, including yachts and superyachts, and will be officially launched at the beginning of 2025.
