A dedicated solution for shipping and offshore operations

Marine Weather Intelligence (MWI), a specialist in marine weather and operational decision support, officially presented MWI Shipping during Euromaritime 2026, held from 3 to 5 February 2026.

MWI Shipping is a decision-support platform specifically designed for the shipping industry and complex maritime operations. The solution addresses the growing need for safer navigation, optimised performance and regulatory compliance in an increasingly constrained operational environment.

A field-proven platform already active at sea

Although officially showcased at Euromaritime this month, the MWI platform has been deployed and used in real operating conditions for over two years. It is currently active on more than 60 vessels, including merchant ships and special transport units.

MWI Shipping builds on proven modules, partly derived from the experience gained with MWI Yachting (launched in 2025), and adapts them to the operational realities of commercial fleets and offshore activities.

From complex weather data to operational decisions

MWI Shipping integrates the recognised meteorological expertise of Christian Dumard and transforms complex multi-model weather data into clear, actionable decisions.

The platform enables:

  • Advanced route optimisation based on vessel-specific constraints

  • Anticipation of threshold exceedances (wave height, wind force, swell conditions)

  • Intelligent selection of the most relevant weather models depending on geographic area and situation

  • Risk-based routing with uncertainty management

By combining algorithmic routing with expert meteorological analysis, MWI Shipping supports masters, fleet managers and operations teams in making informed and measurable decisions.

Satellite-enhanced alerts and early-warning contribution

Weather alerts are reinforced with satellite data developed in partnership with the European Space Agency. This integration strengthens the detection and anticipation of hazardous phenomena in the vicinity of vessels.

MWI Shipping aligns with international early-warning and risk-reduction initiatives promoted by organisations such as the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and supports the maritime sector in improving resilience at sea.

Performance, decarbonisation and regulatory alignment

Beyond safety, MWI Shipping contributes directly to operational efficiency and decarbonisation objectives. By optimising routing strategies and anticipating severe conditions, the platform helps reduce fuel consumption, limit unnecessary deviations and improve schedule reliability.

These capabilities are fully aligned with the objectives set by the International Maritime Organization and with global initiatives promoting safer and more sustainable maritime transport.
